C-Mac & The Clouds

Bottle My Woes started taking shape back when I was living in a tiny flat in Kingston, Canberra around 2018. I had a Tascam 8-track portastudio set up in the lounge room, and Ain’t Nothin’ New basically fell out in one go, chords and lyrics together while sitting on the couch with my Maton acoustic. I recorded a rough demo on the Tascam and shared it with a couple of people who were into it.

When I moved back to Adelaide in 2019, I got together with Tony at his place. We re-recorded the acoustic and vocals, and then built the rest of the track up from there, with Tony adding all the great texture, drums, electric guitar parts, and extra layers that made the song come alive.

Bottle My Woes came a little later in Adelaide. The lyrics are partly nonsense and partly a strange, fun, slightly anxious stream of whatever I was feeling at the time. It’s a bit of an odd one, but it captured something true for that moment, so we ran with it.
